Annette Gibson LL.B.

 
 Annette is a very experienced criminal lawyer, who has appeared in the Local, District and Supreme Courts of NSW in many criminal matters. SHe is a persuasive advocate, with attention to detail. She only briefs experienced criminal law barristers. 

Annette has an excellent knowledge of the criminal justice system, having worked in the criminal law for over 25 years.   

Before opening Burwood Criminal Defence in 2023, Annette was the Associate to His Honour Judge Norrish KC at the NSW District Court. She gained her criminal law experience over 25 years at Legal Aid, Work Cover, and as a Federal Prosecutor at the Commonwealth DPP. Annette loves looking after her clients; from explaining all the details, helping you navigate the court process and advocating for you.

You gain from her legal work experience. Annette worked on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses To Child Sexual Abuse, and the Inquest into the Deaths Arising from the Lindt Café siege. 

Our practice can also converse in the German language.

Annette has a long association with the suburb of Burwood: Annette's grandparents lived & worked here, and Annette's mother also grew up in Burwood, where she attended both Burwood Primary & High Schools. In Burwood Park stands a memorial to the almost 2,000 prisoners of war who lost their lives in the Sandakan, Borneo death marches of WWII. Annette's Great Uncle Nelson Short was one of only 6 survivors of the horrific death marches in Borneo.  

Annette was invited by the Federal Australian Government to deliver a speech in Sandakan, Borneo, on behalf of her Great Uncle on ANZAC Day 2024.
